Read the text, translate the last passage into English:

Miss Green was very fat. She weighed 100 kilos, and she was getting heavier every month, so she went to see her doctor.

He said, ‘You need a diet, Miss Green, and I’ve got a good one here.’ He gave her a small book and said, ‘Read this carefully and eat the things on page 11 every day. Then come back and see me in two weeks’ time.’

Miss Green came again two weeks later, but she wasn’t thinner: she was fatter. The doctor was surprised and said, ‘Are you eating the things on page 11 of the small book?’

‘Yes, doctor,’ she answered.

My favourite thing

Listen to the speakers describing their favourite things and do the exercises to practise and improve your listening skills.

Then please make a video where you speak about your favourite things.

My favourite possession is my laptop. Today, there are so many opportunities to buy whatever you like. If you don’t like your shoes, you can buy new ones. If you want a new camera but you don’t have enough money, you can ask your parents to help. Another choice is to save some money and then buy it. However, I think that such an abundance of opportunities leads to careless usage of things. People easily break things and throw them away, not even trying to fix them. I always try to handle carefully my possessions, be it a laptop or a cell phone. My laptop is rather old now but it still looks fancy. It is of a silver colour and has a black keyboard. I can’t imagine how people managed to work or study without computers. Only a couple of decades ago people didn’t know what the laptop is. Today, it has become an indispensable object in every house. As for me, it is always at my service when I do my homework, prepare for exams, chat with friends, type documents, edit photos and want to store some information. My parents use a desktop computer, but I prefer my laptop. First of all, it is easy to carry around. When we go on a trip, I always take it with me. Secondly, it gives me a wide range of possibilities. I can use it as a communicator, a CD-player, a TV, a radio, an e-book, photo editor, etc. Thirdly, it takes up less space than desktop computers. So, I don’t even need to buy a special desk for it. Thanks to its portable nature, it can be used anywhere: in the kitchen, in the bedroom or in the car. In conclusion, I’d like to say that modern technologies are moving on. So, soon we might replace laptops with something even more convenient.
